S:Couldn't you explain to me what these  "800" telephone numbers mean? 
            
J:That's very simple,Simon.Numerous  telephone numbers -mostly related to  businesses or governmental of fices         
-are "800" numbers.These numbers  provide free customer service. In many other cases ,companies are interested in getting new customers.        
If you dial an "800" number,your party  will pay the bill.                         

S:I see.I appreciate your explanation, Jack.Next time I'll try to make use  of these toll-free numbers.

S:Good evening.Today I bought  an electronic typewriter at  one of your stores.I've a   question.

S:I attempted to set the page margins,but the typewriter  started beeping.Evidently something was wrong.
                           
AT & T:Page margins cannot be set  closer than one inch.The typewriter will beep if you attempt to do so, or if you press the wrong margin key.
